About me

At a young age I started developing a great passion for film. From that passion I started investigating what working in film meant, and which roles were part of filmmaking. This is where I first got myself familiar with the profession of the editor, and I found it incredibly interesting and wanted to find out more.

After graduating High School in the Netherlands, I moved to the United States for a High School Exchange Program. The High School I attended offered a video production class, which is where I took my first steps as an editor, starting with learning how to use the software (Adobe Premiere). In my spare time, while studying for my Bachelor degree, I took every opportunity to keep developing as an editor, by continuing to self-teach editing, and by doing multiple internships.

In 2016 I started working as a freelance (video) editor and worked on my first official jobs. After graduating with a Bachelor in Arts in 2017, I took another gap year, during which I worked as an (assistant) editor while also thinking about the next step in my career. Because so far, most of the jobs I did were short form video content, and not necessarily fiction or drama where my actual passion lay in, I aspired to make the transition from video to fiction/drama. This led me to choosing to do a Master in Filmmaking – Editing at Goldsmiths University in London, which I passed with distinction.

During these intense studies, I learned essential knowledge and skills that prepared me for the real deal. Besides workflows, do’s and don’ts within the (international) industry, and most of all storytelling through editing, I learned the Avid Media Composer software as part of the curriculum, resulting in me obtaining my Avid Certified User certificate. After graduating from my MA with distinction, I moved back to The Netherlands where I’m now starting my career as a film editor.
